The Old Manse, 1757-1848 from the South Vennel
This is an engraving from a publication called `The Lanark Manse Family`. This was written by the Lanark Historian Thomas Reid about the Reverend William Menzies.
The Reverend Menzies manse was a house back from Lanark High Street. It had a garden in front of it. That today is the site of the Royal Bank. The Manse seems to have been a fairly substantial building dating back to the 18th century.
